Are X100 Style XKRs Appreciating in Value?
#22
The X100 will eventually go classic, there's no question. Values will creep up over time. How long it takes depends on market and fashion factors all completely outside of our control.
Most definitely, the driving force will be the X100's overall appeal of V8 power and drop-dead gorgeous looks. These will coax buyers forever.
Hell, I'd probably still have bought mine even if it had a 2 litre Pinto in it !

I had always wanted a DB7 from when I was young ( I say at the grand old age of 36), they just seemed really cool.
When I stumbled across XK8s and Rs last year when I was looking for a "cheap" fun car (originally was thinking an old Audi S model of some sort) I realised how much better it actually is as a package than a DB7. Yea you can get a manual DB7 but they are not as quick as an XKR and the interior doesn't feel as nice. The XK8 interior has a really classic feel to it that will always be desirable. Weird example but it is like the car equivalent of a Victorian home. People still buy victorian furniture because it doesn't look dated today, so called modern designs age very quickly and that is how I think the interior of a car comes across. The interior of a DB7 now looks dated but an XK8/R has that classic look that is designed to look old from the start.
I no longer want a DB7 because I bought an XKR! It cost a third of the price and I feel lucky to have such a cool car in my garage.
I don't care if it goes up because it makes me happy and there is nothing else you can buy for £5k that even comes close.
