I'm 34, bought the car at 32. I don't believe my XKR is an appropriate mid life crisis car at all.

I purchase the car because it had gorgeous lines, a convertible top to enjoy the Minnesota summer, and it had a torquey engine making 370hp. I had never sat or driven in a Jaguar before flying to Chicago to check the car out. After driving it, I realized these cars were not related in any way, shape or form to the muscular and toyish ponycars that I've driven and I would expect would make a good mid-life crisis purchase.

40 and bought my XKR last week. My response to a friend who accused me of a mid-life crisis: Puh-leaze. I'm in my prime. If I were middle aged, I'd be buying a flashy sports car, dressing in fashion too young for my increasingly pudgy tummy, and spending $ on hair restoration products in a vain attempt to curb the relentless loss of my youth. [pause and blank stare] Awwww, crap!

Going on 76.
Beginning to think i ought to sell my Bandit 1250 motorcycle as I sometimes frighten the sh** out of myself.
Beginning to drive the XK more sedately, oh dear, don't like this old age thing.

55...and envious of these 20 somethings having jags so young!

I would have been in big trouble if I'd had mine that young.
Of course my 68' Olds Cutlass altered to have a floor shift was a lot of fun.
My best friend had cool cars and I was always so envious. Now I tell her
she drives a "generic jag". It's a Chrysler Sebring Convertible. She hates
that phrase so I bite my tongue now. Best friends for over 40 years. I
have to play nice.

My KX8 drove very similarly in various ways to my 70 Mustang, 69 Dart, 78 280Z... relatively heavy car with a decent motor, able to break loose in the turns yet still be able to power through them without losing control. Similar front end push as well. I loved it so much I bought my KXR a few months later after I researched and new what I wanted. I now have a lifetime keeper that is a questionable mid-life crisis car.
