71, The TR6 is waiting on the race engine and overdrive, so the Jag is getting all the attention right now.

Wayne PS I'll be putting it all together.

I'll be 54 this coming Friday. When I'm with my fraternity brothers from college, I'm still 22, and when I'm approving or disapproving of my 17 year old daughter's apparel selections before she walks out the door, I'm 412 (estimated age of a surviving Puritan).

One more year before I get senior citizen discounts at Hy-Vee! (local grocery store chain). That, and driving the XK8, give me something to look forward to.

Cool British

I'm 73 and in addition to our newly purchased 1997 XK8 I also own a 2003 X-type and a 1964 Triumph Bonneville T120R which I bought new.

Hi all,
Having been a lifelong Jag fan I bought my first XJS at age 36. Since then I have had nothing but Jaguars, culminating in my dream car (as I can't afford an E type) a 2005 XK8 4.2L purchased at age 48. Now at almost 51 I am still enjoying the car with a huge smile every time I drive it and thanks to this forum, learning more and more about it every day.

I'm 25 and had my lovely 2002 4.2 XK8 Conv for just over a week... My neighbours are suitably jealous!

Default Just saying...

I think that being able to drive much less outright own a expensive car is a good thing. I am truly happy for you and for me. I am especially proud of you who worked for that ability to be owners of an expensive, rare and beautiful English made sporty car!
Without coming out and saying what you probably are seeing as my point, earning and getting are two very different concepts.
Regardless, enjoy"whilst" you can!

Harold I may have misunderstood your point - but I have most certainly 'earned' my new pride and joy. I happen to be lucky enough to have studied hard enough and worked my way from the bottom to the upper-middle of my chosen profession and have spent many years working and saving hard. The XK 8 is a little reward to myself for having spent far too many hours at work.

I can't stand the idea of people who are given things in life for free, or who are given an easy ride in life..

I apologise if I've gotten your post out of context but it just got me on the defensive a little....

Default Side note

My point is however and whenever we got our "rides", there were a few respondents who seemed young to have earned a 90k USD Jag.
This is worrisome thread, tending to a bit of bragging about who got what when.
Does it matter?
Please enjoy, life is too short to quibble!
Harry
