Ya know, when I first posted on this thread I was 54. Now I'm 56 (just had a birthday) but with the kitty, I feel 36.

69, old enough to know better but young enough to do it anyway.

I am not an XK owner, but I hope to soon be. I'm 43 and my current car is a 99 BMW M3. I've outgrown it and I'm ready for an adult car. The M is nice, but its not very refined and the M3 crowd tends to be mostly guys under 30 with their first affordable hot rod. They mod the hell out of them and drive them into the ground. Its very hard to find a decent M that hasn't been trashed out. I have noticed that XK's of the same age tend to be in MUCH better condition than Ms.

I just retired from the military and I'm currently looking for my next career. Once that is figured out I'm getting an XK!

Cheers to the elders! I find myself less attracted to cars like M3s and going out to clubs, more into Q-ships and staying at home with some scotch. I sold a Porsche 944 Turbo and got my XKR this week. I think my two toddler boys are rapidly aging me. My wife can now spot gray hairs. Even my left knee has recently started paining me. It wasn't like this recently... How am I without a manual transmission for the first time in my life? Is this a one-third life crisis? How did thi... how... whe... ehhhh I'm just going to waft about for awhile and enjoy grumbling at Camaros in my heated seat.

As I find myself modifying my XKR currently, would you care to share the list of mods to your cat with the rest of us? Sounds interesting. Great looking car RSsteveH!

Chris,

Good for you! Funny...kids age you like a fine wine (or so I would like to think!). IMHO you get better with them. Physically they are taxing but fun as hell if you enjoy playing.

I am 52 and have three...22/21/18.

The "puppy" (a 6'7" puppy) hated the Jag when I first got in 2007. He wanted (God Forbid) a Hummer. He now has come to realize the finer things in life.

Enjoy your kids...their growing up goes so damned fast.

That sounds about right! I am greatly enjoying having the little buggers around- life will never be the same and for the better. As Jeremy Clarkson said, cars like these can be like living with a two year-old. Really annoying most of the time, but you'd kill anyone that tried to take them from you! They do grow up so fast... it's a cliche' but so true. I have learned to slow down and enjoy the little moments. And patience for sure (and a slog that can be). A Hummer, eh? Sounds about right- I can't wait to hear what mine want years from now. Thanks!

Enjoying the Jag and everything in good health as we all should.

You guys are in for a shock; I'm but a mere 19 years young. My black XK8 is my first Jag, though it's not the first one in the family. My father has owned a couple Vanden Plas from '98 and a '07 XK. You could say we are fans of the brand.

Default jaguar drivers age

hi guys i'm 63 but purchased my first jag in 86 (i was 37) a brand new 86 xjs v12. ($36000,00) most people would say (and have said to me ) that they were pieces of s--t. they couldn't have been that terrible i sold it 3 years later with 35000 on the clock for 30,000. not bad right? i went right out and bought a new 89 (it probably ran around $44-45000 kept it two years put a ton of miles on it got $30,000 for it. now it gets good I picked up a bright red 91 off the floor at woburn foreign motors in massachusetts the sticker was $52000.00 i stole it for $35000.00 and now i have slowed the buying pace down and have a 99 ragtop (87,500 miles on it now) and it has been one of the nicest cars i have owned it has been very reliable, with the exception of tires, (pirrellis suck) brakes, and just recently valve cover seals and water pump. i enjoy thumbing through the forum but cant believe all the problems that people have experienced. oh ya i forgot one bad coil pack no big deal. if you really want to dig into your wallet try porsche on for size. i had a 2 year old 928s and that thing was in and out of my wallet more often than i was. beautiful red w/bbs wheels but after a year and a half and about $15000 in ridiculous repairs i sent it packing. oops i got a liitle long winded any way enjoy your jag because anyone that sees you in it is green with envy
happy new year to all

^ Good times. Indeed on old Porsches from that era. I just arrived here after spending $6k in the last year keeping up a 1986 944 Turbo. One week in with the XKR and already feeling the savings!

But it's OK. My best man made me feel better a few days ago. He just sold his 2011 Subaru WRX and took a $12k depreciation loss - financed - in nearly as much time. New cars are for the birds.

Also to add on to my earlier post regarding age... I discovered the official soundtrack for my Jag today. Steely Dan's Greatest Hits.

73 Bought my first Jaguar 50 years ago ( still have it in good working order) Xk120FHC. Also owned in between 120, and 1997XK8 coupe an XJ, and XKE coupe. Thinking about a XK8 convertible. If I sell a couple of Alfa's, and a Benilli sei motorcycle. Might be running out of time.
