54 owner of my first Jag for 1 1/2 months now. (01 XK8).
In all the while I was "shopping" I only saw two, on the road. The others I had to seek out being 4-sale.
I've put over 1,600 miles on in a month and 1/2 !!!!!!!
Hadn't seen another 96-06 until three days ago, spied a black vert, top down, older couple (older than my 54 years....lol)

44 - started with a 1974 TR6 in 1984 and totaled it in head on when I was 15. Bought another 1974 TR6 when I was was 27 and I was too big for it. My 1997 XK8 is just right. Exotic for my area. Only xk8 coupe in town. One other convertible. I will get it back from the body shop tomorrow w a brand new paint job. It is truly a head turner and runs like a charm w 113,000 miles.

46 in July.
Enjoying my XKR since early March. One of my son's friends, who is in his 2nd year of college called the Jag a yacht, while viewing it in the garage. I suppose all that burl veneer on the dash and the center console allude to the grandness of a luxury sea worthy vessel. However, once the kitty grabs her paws into the road, it morphs into a torpedo.
I had the car shipped from Scottsdale Arizona to the East Coast where I live. Bought it from a Ferrari/Maserati dealer through pictures and and a review of service records (it was previously owned by a business lady who serviced the car at the dealer. She traded it in for a Gran Tourismo). So far, both the car and I enjoy each other's company. On a special occasion (weekend), the passenger seat is reserved by my lovely and understanding wife (Lol) or my equally lovely, soon to be 16 daughter.
Compared to other cars, even to the updated XK150, nothing beats the sensuous aesthetics of a classically inspired design, the intoxicating smell of the supple leather interior, the decadent inlays of exotic wood and the demure rumble of the V-8 at idle.
In my previous life, (OBK - one before kids), I was fortunate enough to own and experience great cars (see my signature for a partial list of my automotive history). Only now, however, at the ripe and tender age of my adolescence (LOL), I can appreciate the pure, timeless, unadulterated design and world class performance of a true grand touring coupe.
Happy and safe Motoring to all car nuts and enthusiasts - many more years and miles to come.

Glendaniel, Enjoy being the youngest XK owner on the forum while you can, my black XK is promised to my son when he turns 16. So in a year and a half you will be dethroned (and I will be picking up a newer XK for myself). BTW, I had my local custom exhaust shop remove the center resonator and replace with an H pipe, as well as remove the 4 mufflers. I had him put in some slim glass packs where the giant rear cans used to be and add some pretty stainless tips. He suggested that I not reroute the pipes under the axle as my tendency to drive it in the winter and over questionable dirt roads might cause clearance issues. Total cost - $510 USD, result being a car that's quiet enough under normal conditions, but howls like a jaguar should under acceleration. No drone, and much more power as well. Will have to make a video or 2.

I dropped my 1997 XK8 at the body shop a week ago for a new paint job. You can imagine how exited I was to pick her up after passing the shop for a week. When I pulled into the lot yesterday, she was prominently on display, glowing like there was an energy source from within.
I cranked her up and she seemed to rumble a bit. I wrote it off to lack of use fore a week. As I pulled out of the lot I headed to the gas station but the old girl continued to gurgle and finally lose some of her power causing the check engine lite to illuminate and flashing several engine performance problem codes as well a gearbox fault code.
When I returned o the body shop to enquire if they had inadvertently done something, they were expectedly very defensive. "We don't work on engines, we just painted the car" was the reply. I asked if perhaps something could have been blown into the engine compartment when the front bumper was off, but I was assured that nothing like that happened. They did however say that they sprayed the engine compartment out to get the dust from he buffing of the car cleaned out.
So, I brought her to my mechanic who discovered that 4 of my spark plugs were submerged in water. He dried he holes out and cleared my codes. It runs fine now, but it was a scary drive to the shop imagining the worse. A brand new looking car that might need a new engine.
Beware of the body shop, or at least warn them not to wash your engine!
