You can access it by removing the centre wood panel. It's held by two clips at the top, and two at the bottom. Use an upholstery tool to gently prise out from the bottom first.

 

What does the security locking module do? If its broken what does it provent?

 

Lots... It will stop/prevent the car from starting... Everything (nearly) is connected in these cars. There is rarely a shortcut... Ask me how I know, lol

 

Perimeter security:- trunk & door locking, fuel tank cap. Fog & reversing lamps, and top operation on conv. Monitors the tail & stop lamps and contains the radio receiver for the key fobs, although I can't see anything that would inhibit start on the '99?

 

Im sorry. All I have is the 2003 stuff... Unless it is different on a 99model,,, the security module also talks to the key transponder the "major" instrument cluster and the body processing module - and will inhibit the "ok to fuel/crank" function... I think that that is true and is true,,, at least it is for my PITA 2003 XKR...

The SCLM functions in unison along the CAN bus (which I don't understand well) system,,, across systems.
