Getting the all too familiar ASC ABS Traction Control warning problem which seems to pop up after 2 to 3 hours driving depending on temperature.
On a hot day or after sitting traffic the warning lights appear sooner.
Stopping for an hour or so turns everything back to normal with no lights.
However another anomaly has just appeared which may/may not be related.
I normally drive with the MPG displayed on the dash and achieve ~25mpg
Whilst no warning lights were on, I sped away from a crawl and spun up a wheel or two a bit, as you do !
The Traction Control kicked in properly and the light blinked as expected, however the MPG display suddenly died and dropped from 25 to 19 instantly.
Checking the A & B trips, revealed these had reset and dropped from ~9,000 miles to zero. They then continued to clock up the mileage as normal mileage but counting up from zero, so lost the ~9,000 miles. The MPG has over time returned to ~25mpg.
I was considering undertaking the ABS unit dry joint repair job but I'm now wondering if the fault might be elsewhere.
Anyone had a similar experience or got any ideas please ?
My current plan is to put a heat shield around the ABS pump and maybe add a computer type finned heat sink !
Thanks Chris
