XK8 2000 or 2001 model? miles v age....etc
We've just started looking into purchasing an old(er) XK8. Seen a few cars listed in our price range, just, but the two that stand out are a year 2000 registered XK8 4.0l with 60,000 miles on the clock and a year 2001 XK8 4.0l with 85,000 miles on the clock. They are exactly the same price.
Both cars have full service histories, two owners, long MOT's and tax. So now we wonder is age i.e. 2000 v 2001 more important than mileage as there is 25,000 miles between them? or miles on the clock more important than age? Perhaps there is some difference between the modifications/engines etc between 2000 and 2001? Can anyone kindly advise, pass an opinion? we would be very grateful

Ceteris paribus there is not enough difference between the two model years to warrant a 25K mile difference. The big changes came in 2003. I would be looking at cars from that model year forward if you are concerned about production year upgrades.

Before you buy anything test drive both the XK8 and the XKR. I was looking at the XK8 until I drove a XKR. The performance difference is amazing. Also by 2003 most issues with the engine have already be taken care of, Tensioners, water pump, and Nikasil.
If these issues have be addressed, don't be scared of the earlier models. There are good bargains to be had.
