XK8 Cylinders
Reverend Sam,
The experimental is a Long EZ. Sorry you had an accident in an ultra light. I have never flown one and won't. You normally don't have a problem finding a place to land when the engine quites. It right below you.
I'm still not completely sold on selling the XK. Pardon the pun. I checked the air cleaner system yesterday and it was clean like it came from the factory. So that is good news. I think I will do an oil analysis and see how that comes out. Any suggestions as to where to send the sample?

A little off thread, but I fly a Long EZ that I built (10 years).
I'm not yet sold on my decision to sell the XK. Sorry for the pun. But I checked the air filter system and found it totally clean just like it came from Jag. I need to do an oil analysis and need info as to where to send it.
I am really dissapointed in Jaguar for their poor testing of the 4.0 engine and transmission regardless of what they claim. I'm an old flight test engineer and if I had done such a sorry job as they did I wouldn't be sending this message right now. I have stood up for Jaguar many times with other car people since I own an XJ now and have owned an XK150S. But they sure did a sorry job this time and it sounds like other companies did the same sorry job.

XCOR may have a nice mod for you ;-)

Not sure if it is fair to be so harsh on Jaguar for the nikasil, although the warning signs where there with the BMW data. So the engineers where maybe a bit stubborn in thinking that the quick warm-up of the engine could counter the negative effect of sulphur.
