XK8 front under bumper Valence panel repair?
OK I know there was a recent thread talking about the front Valence panel replacement or repair but now I can't find it....
So....I just removed mine and plan to repair it. It is broken into two pieces but otherwise not in horrible shape.
My question is what would be the best way to repair and reshape this material. It's made out of a sort of plastic but it has fibrous threads where it's broken so it must be some sort of composite material.
Thought about using fiberglass but I wonder if that would be to ridged and crack.
How about JB Weld, could use tape to make a form in the broken area and spread several layer, sand and finish but again that might crack.
Is plastic epoxy any good?
Whatever I use I need to fill the gaps where small areas were worn away.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

First...holy crap that thing has a lot of crap on it!
After it is clean and dry, I would use epoxy to fill the gaps and bond it together.
Then screw in a metal plate across the crack on the inside for support. Finally I would coat it with the rubberized spray on stuff you can get at any auto parts store.
That would be my cheap fix until I could find a good quality low cost replacement part.

Thanks, yes I seem to have a leak on the left side from somewhere, will be looking for that while I have the valance off. Gave it a good cleaning last night and have started mending it with two part plastic expoxy. A little at a time, I now have the two pices holding together OK and am working on filling in the gaps. Will trim and sand the large build up after it has cured and give it a coat of good plastic paint. Part is not visible so a little build up in the repaired areas will not be noticed. My biggest concern is the repair fracture line cracking open again should it get scraped again, will see what happens. Thought about adding a little fiberglass cloth across the fracture for support and may do that on my next thin coat.
Any other suggestions are welcome.

Well I finished the repairs, used two part plastic expoxy, several thin layers inside and out. Taped off where the holes were on one side and filled with expoxy, let dry, removed the tape and filled the other side. Sanded everything down and painted.
Not perfect and a little bumpy where I patched it but all and all for an area that can't be seen I think it will be OK.

This is an old thread, but someone might still "be out there". I have the same problem on my 2004 XK8. I am considering a full layer of Fiberglas and Epoxy for strength. But, maybe more important, has anyone found a resource for a replacement panel???

Front undertray valance
Okay, I might start a new thread. I tried the part number at SNG Barrett with no result. Will call them on Monday

Here's a link to Terry's Jag. Note that the 4.2 is a different part#.

1999 XK8 Front Bumper Undertray
Gents,
Just changed my front bumper under tray. My original was way too far gone to fix. Previous owner had been towed and towing eye had caused major damage and torn the plastic. Plus some one been using a trolley jack in the middle so it was all cracked there. Got my replacement from UK British Parts, plus fir tree fixings to replace the original plastic rivets which I had to break to replace. If you have the right fixings and tools, it’s an easy job
