XK8 Fuel Pump Replacement
New Member here. Great forum!
I have 1999 XK8 20K miles and it is possible I may have to replace the fuel pump. Ran for about five minutes after two months sitting and wouldn't re start. Cranks and will fire with starter fluid. No fuel at Schrader Valve. Relays and Fuses all good. Depressed Inertia Switch key to position II back to 0. I'd love any links to trouble shooting but have a couple of questions.
Is it easier to lower the differential to access the fuel lines than to make a tool to disconnect and reconnect them?
Will a Code reader tell me if I have a faulty Inertia Switch or are there other issues at Key On that would let me know that it may be not reset properly malfunctioning?
All advice comments and criticism appreciated.
Thanks

Cosmofly, in other vehicles I'd just run a continuity check on the switch. I say it that way because I've never worked with our inertia switch, can you get access to the leads? 1998 diagram shows White Orange from ignition to switch, Red Green out.
If not - does the fuse support anything else? If not, an ampmeter or test light will show if current flows. Looks like fuse #7 20 amp (too much for your ampmeter but check voltage across fuse position, or use test light. Fwiw relay #4 controls fuel pump.

rear suspension can be dropped in no time but it wouldn’t be my first choice
if you have skinny wrists and smaller hands getting to the lines isn’t a big deal.
on the coupe you can do it through the subwoofer hole there is a writeup. do not be a gorilla and try to tilt the tank more than an inch or so with the lines still hooked up.

I lowered the rear suspension just to get at those fuel lines and it wasn't bad, just some bolts.
If you go that route, install the horizontal bolts loose first, then the vertical bolts.
If you install and snug the vertical bolts, you won't get the horizontal bolts in.
I found that it was easy to do the important work, change the fuel pump, with the tank out of the car. I wanted to make sure everything was perfect in there.

cosmofly, fo here and read a couple of threads.
Jon89 and I did this in January 2020 and this is some of the trail and errors we ran into.

Good luck, the tools make all the difference and you can make sure the pipes are in place by pulling on them. They must be solid.
