XK8 just stalled while in idle after 1.5 hr driving

Will not start, doesn't even try. Can you be more specific? When turning the key to start, does the engine turn over or no? If no, do you hear anything, any clicking? I am guessing it is turning over, just not firing? If so, check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. If the fuel pump died, then when pressing the shraeder valve there would be little to no fuel that comes out. If the pump is good, and the fuel line and filter is clear, then there would be pressurized fuel at the valve. Have a towel handy. The valve is on the fuel rail in the engine compartment, it looks like a tire valve.

Sounds like bad news, Pete. If you have someone turn the ignition on while you listen in the trunk you should hear the pump run briefly. The filter should probably be changed if you don't know when it was done. That, at least is inexpensive and while not fun, is at least not as hard as changing the pump.
