Sounds like a plan. I'll have to measure it up. It's hanging down right now.

Default replacement part

I talked with Will at SNG Barratt last month and he had one in stock for $255. If you drive long without it the vibration from the loose fenders and liners will increase greatly.

Maybe we can all collect our brokens ones and make a "new" one

Would be incredibly easy for me to "splash" a mold of a known perfect one - and see what it actually costs to produce- but needless to say, mine is in tatters ...

If you haven't resolved a source, I found my local dealer (Rusnak) matches pretty much any on-line price for a new one and since we all seem to crunch these, they usually have them in stock.
Obviously diagonally across country but you might check.
My vibration noises at high speed went down and they do protect the next, more expensive parts that are underneath them.
I didn't shop as good as you guys so I paid around 300.00 US.

Install was less than 10 minutes.

All the Best!

Might be interesting to do a CF version if I either already knew how to do it or didn't have 1000 other things on my plate right now. I guess I'll probably just bite the bullet though the fiberglass thing sounds like an idea.

let me see if I can find a good one in FL - I have time to splash a mold - and makes no difference if it glass, kevlar or carbon - just adds to the costs of a disposable item ...

A can of flat black spray paint and $25 later and I'm good to go. Looks brand new...almost.

So did the fiberglass adhere to the plastic OK. This sounds like a good fix as mines in decent shape but needs repairing. Might give this a try.

Oh I see. Did not realize your location. Freight is an issue sometimes. Good luck.

I am sort of late getting in on this thread - sorry.

I tore mine off a couple of days ago - hit one of those concrete bars placed in parking lots - had a bolt and nut protruding from it to hold it in place. Ugly suckers.

In any case a friend of mine said that back in the day when he was racing, his team would build these things by using many, many layers of duct tape to build one - they would attach it to the car and do a couple of laps to shape it - then they would spray paint, add some advertising, mount it, and then hit the track

In any case, I need one and I am not very handy. Are new ones (with hardware) available at this time?

Thx

I think they might still be available through the dealer.
The fasteners are sold separately.
Replacement of mine was less than 10 minutes with factory part (about $300 out the door, new from dealer).
looks like a link above might get down to $212. I think I spent about $40 of the $300 on fasteners.
You have about a $50 spread on price. In other words, if you find one in that range, buy it. Just don't buy the last one in case I screw up again.

Kind Regards,
Steven

Default Fasteners

I now have the new bottom pan and winglets. I forgot to get fasteners. Mine got lost when the damaged components were removed

Can someone send me the specs for these? Length, diameter, quantities, etc - maybe I can get them locally. I bought from a Jag dealer the fasteners to hold the floor mats in place and they were very expensive so the ones I need may cost me a bundle - pictures might help also

Got our XK8 out of winter hibernation today and it started instantaneously after a 5 month sleep - a trickle charger on the battery may have helped

Thanks for your help
