XK8 mirror interior

In short, the electrochromatic fluid that is responsible for the automatic dim feature is breaking down. The best option is to have Sybesma Electric rebuild yours with a new gel that won't break down. See this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...acement-17719/ I would do this fairly quickly since the fluid can leak and eat away at whatever it lands on.
There is also an option to open the mirror and remove the fluid. However, this will mean your mirror will no longer dim, there are no guarantees you get it open and back together in a nice way, and if you try to do this and fail Sybesma will not take your mirror.

Hi.
This is an early sign of the mirror will shortly start leaking, and as mentioned in another post the dripping fluid will destroy your interior. You can find used mirrors on ebay, but you will never know how long they will last. I found a new one, gel filled instead of fluid, but that was 175$. Easy to change following instructions in FAQ section. There are different versions depending on auto headlights, rainsensing wipers or not.
