Default XK8 Misfire

I have a 1996 Jaguar XK8 that like many others is in poor health !

I have just refurbished the Gearbox Rotary Switch and on its test drive the car went into limp mode flashing ENGINE FAULT & RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE with the following codes P0352, P0353, P0355, P0358 & P1368

I have replaced the Coil Pack & Plugs
I have swapped Ignition Coil Packs with each other and no change
I have done a wire continuity test from the Coil Packs Plug to the Ignition Control Module Plug and all ok
I have done a wire continuity test for cylinders 5 & 8 from the Ignition Control Module Plug to the ECU and all ok
Battery is on a smart charger so that's ok

I am now at a bit of a loss and have run out of ideas, Any Help would be much appreciated

That looks to me like the misfire pattern of condenser failure in the ECU, fairly common in the first year XK8.

Hi - If you mean CAPACITOR then they have all been replaced with correct specification parts, however its on the list to double check that nothing has gone wrong inside the ECU

I don't suppose you know which capacitor would relate to the Ignition Control Module 2 ?

Thanks for the suggestion

Yes, I meant capacitor. Did you try swapping the ignition modules to see if the misfires moved?

^^ What he said.

If the DTCs don't change, then it could be the ECM, but it could also be a dud coil pack pulling the group down. Try disconnecting the coils on the affected cylinders one at a time.

Are you sure that the caps have been sorted on your ECM? The date codes on the ones I can see in your other post imply that they are orginals from 1996.

I imagine that only Denso will have circuit diagrams for these modules.

@RJ - it's a while since I've seen caps referred to as condensers
