Reviving an old thread that showed up at the bottom of one of the threads I was reading this morning.
I know what I like, but I do like to see additional things that others find beautiful about the X100.
Many liked the connection to the E-type, but several said this:

I've had this same reaction and concluded that much of this is due to the E-type's tall, narrow, almost spindly looking, period wheels and tires.
I find that an E set up with a more modern wheels/tire profile really updates the look.
Yes, E's are still relatively small compared to today's puffed-up marshmallows, but any sense of feebleness is gone.
(Just so you don't conclude the owner below is some philistine out to trash a classic E,
he is one of Denver area's most respected jaguar restoration experts and concours judges,
with a 30-year stable of stock classic jags, who just wanted to build himself a fun daily-driver E)

Reason: minor correction
For me it was the body style that first got me. She has a beautiful interior and being the only one in town she
always gets a lot of looks. I have only had her for 2 months but what has surprised me is the power she still has.
I've never been shy about putting my foot to the floor and the old girl responds instantly and she jumps up to 160
to 180 kph in a flash, very respectable for a 22 year old car. Wasn't my first or second consideration but ended up
as a nice bonus.
For me it was the flowing exterior lines, rounded, smooth, sensual. Sliding behind the wheel, the solid sound of the door latching shut. And that walnut dash.
Certainly the beautiful shape and just that it is a Jaguar drew me in, enough to buy mine from out of state, without seeing it in person, and without having driven one or even sat in one. My wife and I flew to Portland to pick it up, without even meeting the private-party seller. Well before we got back to California with it, I was quite delighted with my new cat ('06 coupé) and three years later, I'm still in love. I get a pang of joy just walking into my garage and seeing it waiting for me. I fit in it quite comfortably and love to drive it, even all day on a long trip.
I sadly had to sell my beloved XK-150 FHC some 40 years earlier and miss it still but the XK8 goes a long way toward easing the pain of loss.
One Thing I like the most - looking at the beautiful car

Like Granville, it's the beauty of the X100 that gets me. When I'm out and about, I park the car "solo"far away from others in a car park. When I return to the car, I have a 360 walk around twice at an increasing distance, just to soak in the beautiful lines of the car. It's especially satisfying when my convertible is topless.
Imagine doing that to a beautiful woman, and if she's topless, you'll be arrested !

I drive "sweet Sugar" to the Office each weekday and back....As the seasons have gone by, so have the X-100's....There were never many of them over the years but there were three or four on the Park Road and a couple parked at the Country Club. All but mine were Convertibles and one Guy had a Red Coupe and Totaled it. He came up with a F150 after that...……..Friday, while driving to the Office, I was thinking about it and you know, it's been quite some time since I've seen another X-100. The last one I saw was at the Jag Dealer where our Friend Bill works....and that was last Spring....Never was a bunch of them but now I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the only one left in Town!
I was down there 2 weeks ago and plan to be back Wednesday or Thursday of this coming week......I'll be on NASA Pkwy....
Parked in the Barber Shop Parking Lot Wednesday and when I came out...someone had bumped my Right Front Fender just past the Headlight....Not much damage but the Body Man said around $2,000.00.....I just don't see it....These Guys are just getting way to high!
I love a few things about my 2001 XKR #1 is the looks! Absolutely gorgeous. #2 is the handling, I’ve never driven a car that handles this well. # 3 - I have to admit that I love the compliments and smiles when I’m driving. I know, I’m so shallow...😁
I have had a 1969 427 Corvette, 1968 396 Chevelle SS, 1977 12 cyl XJS Jag, 1980 Mercedes 450 SLC, 1980 BMW 735, 1998 911 Porsche and now my 2005 XK8 and when compared to that impressive set of vehicles, I can say there are actually three things that make my new baby stand out from all the others:
1) exterior style - timeless beauty that matches elegance and aggressiveness like no other
2) interior style - (a) a leather with a unique smell and feel that no other car can match (b) a wood trim married with traditional gauges that are pleasure to view every time one sits behind the wheel
3) ride- solid, sure footed, yet smooth elegance that produces a ride reminiscent of a fine bourbon as it warmly courses from your lips
It may not be the fastest, or the best handling... It may not be the most reliable, have the best retention or the best mileage vehicle in the world, but from someone who has had them all, it is a unique automobile that provides the magic to thrill its owner every time one sits behind the wheel!
Can I live in your garage?
First I love the looks of the car. For years after I bought it I would open the garage door just to look at it. It's been the most reliable, lowest cost to maintain (I do almost all work myself) car that I've ever owned and I can drive it all day and not get tired of it. I bought it right after my divorce was final in 2005, not as a midlife crisis purchase, but as a gift to myself. It was time to do something for me after years of putting myself last, and that's what I wanted. Even though it's not worth nearly what I paid, that doesn't matter because I'm not selling it.
Funny thing was, I bought it at a Jaguar dealer and as the salesman was doing the paperwork for the sale someone walked into the dealership and shouted,"Do you have any red convertibles?" I just bought their only one, although it was 4 years old. I was wondering if it was a hoax to sell the car, but I already bought it so, 15 years later, I think it was not a hoax. I wonder how much that guy would have paid me to let him buy the car. We'll never know.
the ****1**** thing I love the most..... it’s not easy to narrow it down to the “top 10” let alone just one thing.
i guess the best thing about the car is that I don’t see any just like it no matter where I’m driving. It’s like the car was custom designed just for me. My state is not heavily populated, heck, there are more people in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex than in the whole state of Oklahoma. But I do travel quite a bit in the XKR, and in 2 years of ownership have only seen one XK (in Texas). No sightings in Atlanta, Dallas, Austin, Kansas City, etc. But everyone I encounter on these jaunts KNOWS it a Jaguar. The XK’s certainly have the Jaguar DNA , in abundance !
Here it is a year after this Thread started the second time and we are all still talking about the Jaguar XK8-XKR X-100, It's Beauty, Drivability and Uniqueness! After all these years of owning a Coupe (This 2005 XKR is my 4th), I still have to stop every now and then to take a long look at all that Beauty! It's hard to believe that this Black Jaguar Coupe is so good looking! It's my third Black XKR and I think they just got better looking each year they made them....It's certainly the best looking Automobile that has been built during my lifetime.....and that's been a good while!
If I was counting, and I am.....I would say that it has been close to 2 years since I saw another X-100 Coupe or Convertible on the streets of Houston.....and then it was at a Jaguar Repair Shop!!
