Here it is a year after this Thread started the second time and we are all still talking about the Jaguar XK8-XKR X-100, It's Beauty, Drivability and Uniqueness! After all these years of owning a Coupe (This 2005 XKR is my 4th), I still have to stop every now and then to take a long look at all that Beauty! It's hard to believe that this Black Jaguar Coupe is so good looking! It's my third Black XKR and I think they just got better looking each year they made them....It's certainly the best looking Automobile that has been built during my lifetime.....and that's been a good while!
If I was counting, and I am.....I would say that it has been close to 2 years since I saw another X-100 Coupe or Convertible on the streets of Houston.....and then it was at a Jaguar Repair Shop!!

I see quite a few XK's in the DFW area. I had a 2005 XK until it was hit and totaled. At the time I had 203,000 miles on it and had no intent on retiring it, but fate had a different plan. I now own a 2014 XK which I picked up with 16K miles on her, and am in love all over again. Wonderful cars. My 2005 Sea Foam green w/biscuit interior XK My 2014 White w/Truffle interior XK
I love a few things about my 2001 XKR #1 is the looks! Absolutely gorgeous. #2 is the handling, I’ve never driven a car that handles this well. # 3 - I have to admit that I love the compliments and smiles when I’m driving. I know, I’m so shallow...😁
Ted, thanks for waking up a year old thread. Ditto to all replies. My XK8 replaces a 63 Lincoln Continental that was totalled. Both cars are unique and get positive feedback from other drivers. To this list I would add the unique conversations the XK8 generates with total strangers, when hunting for the cheapest gasoline. I drove 12 miles to get 2 cents less than the local pumps, where a fellow asked about the XK8, saying he regrets selling his, that is now on display in some auto collection. I asked why not get another one, while noticing he was pumping premium into a Ferrari. He said probably not as he is about to buy a Bugatti. We are unique people who save pennies at the pump so we can be first off the line.

I loved my 2005 and love my 2014. BTW, I get the same thrill driving and looking at both of them AND just as many compliments with both.
On several occasions I have had perfect strangers open a conversation by saying about my Victory Edition convertible in Seafrost, “I really want to get one of those, someday.” It’s the visceral reactions the car evokes just sitting there that remind me often how lucky I am to own it.
Forums are great places to sort problems out and share knowledge/experience etc, and I've benefited from this one numerous times.
But I thought it would be interesting to see what folks views are on the one thing that makes the XK8/R really do it for them. Could be name, style, power, poise, heritage, status or whatever... but what does it for you?

Arland, I too find that women get wet on my hand rubbed burl walnut. Perhaps your can be more literal on the Jaguar inspired sexual favors you have experienced. Such an open ended statement leaves too much to the imagination. I used to live in Wisconsin like you and these favors typically include biting your curd until it sqeaks, kissing your cow to make it moo, or licking the cone before it melts. Have we driven the same women in America's Dairyland?

The 05's were SeaFROST, BC. Not that they're easy to spot the difference between, but Seafrost is a newer color and has a bit more of a blueish tint (I think):
I drive a Landrover Defender in the winter but when summertime arrives...out comes the XKR, the thing i like best about my XKR is "when you plant your foot hard down to the carpet it

I like the craftsmanship and the fact that it's not a car that you see everyday. I am also a Corvette fan and have a 2002 Z06. That car has more of a fun factor with the 6-speed but the "nice factor" is 10x better on my 2002 XKR. When I'm in the Vette I feel like having a beer, but in the Jag a cigar and a glass of brandy.
After my repair of ECU and complete major servicing I’ve been driving everyday to complete monitor resets to pass my smog test here in California. This has enabled me to once again fall in love with this beautiful machine 1997 BRG XK8 55,000 Miles. I drove to San Diego 75 miles one way and had opportunity to hit 110 MPH for a brief stretch. I was a little concerned because my Tires are 10 years old and sat in my garage for over a year. But no flat spots and plenty of tread. What a great balance of Ride, Power, Handling and Style.
That XK8 may be an 1997 but it certainly looks newer than that....and the Tires look great! Drive it! Enjoy it! Have fun in it! But make sure you change out the Cam chain tensioners......Man, I wish my XKR only had 50,000 Miles on it! Keep it clean!
The Car never fails to gather positive comments whenever I drive it. Was purchasing fuel during trip in Elizabethtown Ky on Sat. when 2 guys pulled up and commented what a beautiful color and how much Metallic was in the green. Then another guy shouted what a beautiful color and how much Metallic was visible. I advised probably not much gold left in Ft. Knox. All ways gets positive comments and it never gets old. Going on 6 years ownership.

Tensioners were changed 10 years ago as was all the usual things that break including water pump, rear view mirror and top fluid. Just had ECU repaired, gas tank drained, and major service after 2 years of very limited exercise.
