XK8 rear drive shaft removal.

If you're talking about the half shafts (?) You'll need to unbolt the hub carrier on the side in question (have REPLACEMENT hub nuts on hand they are 1 time use - Welsh enterprises has the for 25bucks). Hopefully the carrier will slide off the shaft, it's splined, and hang there for you while you do the work.....
Get a nice long extension set up (the longer the better) for a 1/2 inch drive socket/breaker and a proper 6 sided socket (sorry, can't remember the size - but I think it's standard/imperial at the diff side) and undo those bolts (you do NOT want to strip the nutts that hold the half shafts to the diff). This will allow you to remove the shafts and work on a bench. Watch for any spacers and stuff like that!
Turning off the nutts once loose with some kind of electric tool is a nice option... Once loose that is...
When fitting the socket over the nuts on the diff side be very careful. You'll have to manipulate the shaft and rotate it to make sure you have a REAL purchase on the nutt,,, again you don't want to strip them. They are tight. If possible give the nutts at diff a shot of your favorite type of penetrant the days before.
Then, wrestling with the old U joints is the task. No no no fun. Unless you have a whole press set up.
I can't remember the torq spec for retighening the nutts but it's a manageable number, something like 60-80 ft lbs but check that...!
Be careful about preload on the U joints once installed... There are YouTube videos about this potential problem on any number of generic U joint installation vids...
Good luck.
