Default xk8 rear rattle

Hi guys my xk8 has an annoying rattle emanating around the rh rear somewhere near the rear wheel. My suspension is very hard on this car. Have checked mufflers, all suspension & attach points. Cannot find anything loose . Any ideas its a 2003 model

At least for the cars with CATs, its very common that an inner rubber wears out causing a rattle, only way is to replace the unit then (very few can repair them...)

First things first - check the spare tire tool storage area to make certain that no tools have vibrated out of place and are rattling against the metal spare tire well area....

Check the plastic inserts in the wheel. They get loose and sound like there is a problem. I had one go bad and drove me nuts as it sounded like something was lose.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned rear shock lower bushes yet. They rattle badly when worn out.

Check the handbrake cable slack. Adjust if loose.

The top shock mount has a large washer that can bang on the top of the top hat when the shock mounting foam disappears and the shock is in extension. It all happens up in the cavity where you can't see it.

On a smooth road with an occasional pothole, It is more of a banging than a rattle, however. On a rougher road I could see where it could "rattle".
