XK8 stalling problems
#3
Hi thanks for the info, no other real symptoms other than it seems to happen more in damp weather. Its very frustrating, the car stalls, the power is gone from the brakes and steering. You turn the car off and it restarts fine. Also there seems to be a burst of smoke from the exhaust system for the first couple seconds on restart. Its quite dangerous, so far i have always been able to cruise to the side of the road, but i fear the day i will be unable to make it to the side. My mechanic is stumped as well.

If there were any detectable faults before the stall, the codes for them would be stored in the engine computer...that is why it is important to retreive them for clues. If you get them, please post them.
Also, check in the trunk battery area and spare wheel area under the trunk floor and make sure you do not have any water or excessive moisture in there...that will play havoc with your electrical system.
