Default xk8 transmission help

Hello
I have a 1997 xk8 that needs a new transmission. I am hoping someone o b here might have some advice on a place to either find a used one or a rebuilt one. Also costs involved and if its even worth it. The car is in the toronto area.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

It you want used parts and I believe they sell international ecoastauto.com . If you repair it it will be around $3500 USD max. So it really depends on how much you love the car. Hope this helps.

It may just be the A-drum (do a search) swap that and redo the valve body and you might be off to the races.

Asking a question like that on an enthusiasts forum will get you answers around the spectrum. You will need to qualify what you want to do. Can you do the work yourself? Do you just want a shop to take care of it or do you want to get parts and have an independent do it? Do you want to buy a used unit and install it or rebuild yours? You need to give us a feel for the path you want to take.

Hi, just out of interest, as these trans units have a bad reputation for split A drums and needing new valve packs, would a good indy be able to drop the trans out and fit the new drum? It should be no problem to fit a new valve pack at the same time. Anyone tried this route? I know where to get a new A drum from the U.S so would have to import it, but at this time cannot find a replacement valve body anywhere, any ideas?Just looking at options Iin case this may be a worthwhile and cost efective way to repair the box? I have no idea of the mechanics of how to accomplish the above task or if it is a cost effective way to cure a box which bumps when shifting into reverse, just looking at alternatives to a secondhand box with no history against a very expensive fully re conditioned unit plus fitting. Any advice for myself and others most appreciated.
Kind regards,
AryyH
