XK8 vs Z4 ?
Hello everyone , wonderful site here . I have a question or more looking for opinions . I'm going to be in the market for a convertible and had been looking at the Z4's and XK8'Ss , I had my mind set on the Z4 but I keep coming back to the Jaguar . I'm sure everyone on here is biased towards the Jaguar , which is fine with me , but does anyone have an over riding opinion as to why the Jaguar would be the better choice ? Is there anything that really stands out , like mechanical or electrical issues ? I'm not looking for blistering performance , just a nice riding car for weekend driving . I'm looking around the 00' model year for the Jaguar and 03' for the Z4. If and when one is purchased , I will post some pics and probably end up being a regular on here .
Thank you for opinions , pro and con .

Interesting comparo. Both very good choices and both compare well to each other. Both luxo-cruisers; neither is going to make the top of any performance lists; neither in the full blown sport category; just very nice roadster head turners, with more appeal stopped at the light than going flat out.
I like both of these cars, and it would be a difficult choice for me. I'm biased toward Jaguar, but the Z4 is a very nice car. It'll probably get down in the end to whether you like long and curvy, or short and angular.

I think it would be hard for anyone to determine that one for you. I personally have never been in a Z4, they look nice but I expect that have that firm BMW ride. If you looking for comfort with handling then I would say the XK8.
Insurance would be cheaper on the XK8 as it has that big package shelf or small rear seats instead of roadster.
I'd say do some more research, test drives and see what you like. I found what I like as I drive mine everyday.
As far as mechanical/electrical problems mine has performed well. There are some issues with timing chain tensioners and water pumps on early models you may want to look into. But with any used car it all depends on how the owner has taken care of them.
Good luck with you search.

Yes , apples and oranges is about right ! I'm going strictly on styling and looks . I say the Z is the "sportier" ride of the two. I figure the XK8 would have the more comfortable ride . The shelf/backseat would give me more luggage room for trips plus I'm sure it's easier to get in and out of the two.
I'll keep looking around this site until I decide what I'm going to do . I'm in no hurry so that helps .
Thanks for the replies .
