XK8 ..water under rear seat (lake)

XK8 ..water under rear seat PROBLEM SOLVED !READ!
Removed the back seat to change a frayed seat belt and the tub under the RHS had loads of water in it and the seat foam was sodden.
Further examination showed it to be in the cross box to the front and it had been sloshing forwards and under the front carpet.
Is this a common fault? Does not seem to be coming from above rear or side windows. Doing brakes at present and will then check under.
PROBLEM SOLVED
The leak was along the gutter line,,evidently the moulding is glued on and mine had opened up to a 2 mm gap ...out comes the silicone and hopefully, it's cured.Going to remove the front seat and split the carpet front to rear and get all that foam out. I have some new mats coming .

Did you wonder why your question has so far had 77 Views but 0 Replies?
Your profile shows 2000 XK8 but your previous questions have been about a 1997 XK8. The Model year isn't too important in this particular instance but knowing whether it's a Coupe or a Convertible is more critical.

Caveat: Coupe, here, I am less familiar with the intricacies of a leaking convertible top and associated weatherstripping.
One (somewhat common?) scenario is when the "bins" for the ECU or brake booster fail to drain, fill up and end up somehow leaking into the car. These bins have a small-ish opening at the bottom that can clog with debris. Folks use a straightened coat hanger to clean this up. There is also a pair of rubber tube in that vicinity for draining the cowl. Those tubes have to also be double checked.
Best of luck, keep us posted.

I've never needed to remove the carpet but it looks like with front seats, seat rails, centre console and sill cover out of the way, the entire "tubs" will come out.
Give you the opportunity to examine the floor at the front which is a known weakness for rusting through.
