Hey JJJ . . . no need to feel that way. If you have a spare month or two, let me fill you in on some of my brain-fades! LOL.
The actual compression readings may not be affected hugely, but that's the way Jaguar (and most others) insist it be done for accurate comparison with their specs . . . and far kinder to your battery with all that cranking!
I just wanted folks to know that I'm still aiming at this swap/work/and - I that I didnt just prime ya'll for all that AMAZING info nuthin... This XJS ("CherryPie") has just been taking my full attention. Got her running and have done a ton of stuff already. Now, moving towards buying a MIG and replacing the LH floorboard on her...
I need to do the swap before the it starts getting cold... So get ready for a TON more questions, lol... Looking forward to getting BACK into the XK...
Hey... I'm not sure but the guy who owns this house loves dealing in cars... lol, he doesnt even have a drives license,,, but just buries himself in the tinkering, back in the 'yard'...
I'll check for you later today, dsnyder and get back to you with some pictures. It needs some love and - paint, I'm sorry to say. I do know that. I've heard her running. Sounds ok.
I am hoping folks are still with me on this LONG delayed endeavor. Took some time off for college, a heart breaking break up! and then, the 1990 XJS which is a beautiful thing! Then full time work, my other projects & stuff and now... Well, this is long over due.
I had a little nightmare last night as I think about getting into this again. It has to do with that PLUG or set of PLUGS that rest right under the throttle body... Is there an official name for that plug system that I can do some research? It seems to be all engine related systems. I guess I'm a little nervous about the connection between the 2000 replacement engine systems and the 2002 original engine systems. Should I be?
My language and orientation in this process is a little rusty at the moment - so sorry if the question is a dumb, unclear or way off mark..
I have always heard that it's important to mark the position of the drive shaft in relation to tranny end when disconnecting the shaft for weight and balance. What does one do when there is no way to do this,,, like if the tranny is new...?
