xk8/xkr R performance

Actually, might be different in the U.S. I had a 2003 xkr. It had the regualr growler on the steering wheel. I did not have alloy pedals.
It had vents in the hood, brembo brakes, an "R" on the shift lever as well as and "R" on the trunk and sides of front fenders. Front badge said 4.2 Supercharged on it. Open the hood, it says supercharged on the supercharger. It had nav system, because you couln't get the XKR without it. Many have 20 inch wheels, mine had detroits on it. Sill plates said Jaguar XKR. There may be other differences, but that's all I can think of right now. Hope this helps.

Not the expert, but...
The XKR model is supercharged, has the CATS active suspension and upgraded brake system. On the 2003 MY, the R makes ~80 more HP than the normally aspirated XK8. Larger wheels were also standard on the XKR.
I think the XKR had the 6-speed auto transmission vs. the 5-speed in the base XK8 that year. Someone can verify this I'm sure.
The XKR was the performance model and was much more than just extra badges. Ask anyone on the forum who has had both.

Something that hasn't been mentioned on the R performance package is the following. The Computer Active Technology System (CATS) is a suspension package now built into all XKRs, and utilizes dual-stage shock damping to invisibly maximize handling, comfort, and driver control. Additionally, a stability enhancement (anti-spin) system and model-exclusive Performance Handling Pack are fitted, wherein ride height is lowered 10 mm. CATS is also specially calibrated for taut handling, with spring rates increased and anti-roll bars modified.
