I replaced the water pump and as Graham suggested the leak went away. It appears the shaft had worn and it was leaking out the weep hole. All is back in good order.

After literally fiddling around with the Norma connector in order to get a decent photo, the leak stopped for me. I should go ahead with the replacement anyway I guess, who knows when this overdesigned connector decides to throw in the towel.

I replaced the one on my '8 last year as I had a leak in one of the valley hoses exactly where Fulton shows in his picture and didn't want to be rushing back. You may be able to get to the octopus just by removing the TB (the Alldata time quotes imply that the 'charger doesn't need to come off) but although it's a lot of work, consider doing the hoses and possibly the knock sensors as preventative measures.

once the TB is off, you can see the octopus/spider buried underneath a set of connectors that sit on a plate on top of the transmission. I found it easier to unclip and lift these out of the way first. Watch out for the cable tie(s) holding the octopus. The main problem is that you're stretching to reach everything unless you're about 8'6".

It ain't cheap: IIRC I paid around £95 (~$150), but the hoses are more reasonable.

For the life of me I can't see why Jaguar chose to use complicated plastic connectors where straightforward hose and clips would have worked. Perhaps to ease some assembly process? They also managed to sit the Norma connector directly above one of the cats thus guaranteeing that it gets barbecued nicely.

I have read that some have effected a repair by cutting out the connector and using a short piece of metal tube.

Took me 8 to 10 hours in total as there's lots of other stuff in the way - YMMV - but nothing left to go wrong now

Hope this is of some help,
Mike
