Xkr ac leak
Hi; My 2001 XKR has a Freon leak which I cant find either with dye or audible sensor. Stop leak and charging three times hasn't helped. I do have an oil smell inside the car and the squealer goer crazy. Has anyone experienced an evaporator leak on one of these. I imagine its a tremendous job and I don't want to do it unless absolutely necessary. Any advise? Thanks. Tom.

How long does it take to leak away, hours, days, weeks, months ? I had a very slow leak and found that changing the type of refrigerant gas fixed the problem. I changed from R134a to a R290/R600, a hydro-carbon blend instead. The molecules are ( apparently ) bigger and so do not escape through old semi-porous hoses and seals.
Also it takes about 50% less gass to charge the system and it seems to be more efficient, cools much better than previously.
Here in Australia the gas is supplied as 'Hychill' but eslewhere in the world it will have a different name. They have a website with lots of technical information, and will help to dispel any myths that I am sure are about to pop up from nay-sayers.
