Default XKR driver mirror does not respond partly

Driver & passenger mirror does not respond to left-right input, but does go up - down. Does that means its likely the circuit board or the toggle switch with the springs? can anyone tell me what replacement I should order if I want to cover all my bases? its not just the trim I presume.

Kudos to this forum btw. Im not particularly adept, but as a result of this group I've saved thousands buying sensors, alternator, seat module, giving them to local mechanic to do!

Charles does passenger work ok? If no same symptoms, suspect window switch drivers door.

If passengers side works ok from driver door, its something else, both sides use the same switch circuitry. Switch can't partially work for 1 side, all ok other side.

Do you have memory? If yes press 1 or 2. Does driver mirror move left right ok? Yes - mirror motor ok.

Let us know.

John

Appreciated.tested car.

up down is good for both driver and passenger
right left does NOT work for either driver or passenger
if I move the mirror manually and press M1, the mirror DOES go up- down, and right-left
[strangely i think if I turn car into R, mirror does not dip (maybe i haven't set it correctly)]

A, you've got a bad switch. Imo buy another, it's a can of snakes and scorpions inside that switch. Critical Plastic parts are balanced on top of each other, you'll wonder how they got it together the 1st time!

OTOH not much to lose. You'd have to intentionally try to screw up the window switch side. That's pretty bullet proof. Could you make the mirrors worse by opening it up, sorry yes. Your cal mate.

Heritage is showing new available for ~$110 (equivalent) so it may be worth calling a dealership and see what they would sell you one for.

Tex Murphy's post here:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...h-pack-178455/

shows how to R&R it, although I see he paid over $150 four years back for the switch.

TY so much!!
i contacted heritage who even with their shipping comes to $140. the cheapest dealer here was still $180. I trust the Brits!
instructions seem clear, ill try.
Even with these periodic costs, saving money as well as enjoyment! this car is despite 80k miles still just about getting thru inspections, & its now required as a primary car as we cant get leases at anything like reasonable prices at moment!
now i have to fix the silly overhead console which keeps falling out ;-) yes I see there's been a lot of discussion on threads, but mine doesn't seem to have any forward springs just two on the side,& they ain't doing the trick.

Don't most side view mirror on most cars stop working after years of sitting in one position?
