Default XKR Production number question

One of my 2002 xkr convertables has the detroit BBS wheels and brembo brakes. I know it was something like an "R" option for the XKR however I dont believe it fell under any of the special editions. Curious of the rarity of it as I'm likely putting it up for sale.

Many Thanks

You are correct that the BBS wheels were a cost option.
The 2002 price list for 'R Performance 20" Detroit BBS' was GBP £2450 + VAT. which was USD $3675 + VAT..
The first special edition with BBS Detroit's and Brembo's was the Silverstone XKR in 2000MY. I read somewhere that they were the largest diameter factory fitted wheels in the world.
The Brembo calipers became standard on XKR's sometime later (after 2001) but I'm unsure exactly when?. Please can someone on the forum confirm.

Rarity is difficult to judge because there are no official figures for the option quantities. The Detroit's were expensive and popular (still are) but are not a very comfortable ride and easily damaged....

As for your Vehicle, there were only 1695off 2002MY XKR Convertibles manufactured.

Not to make for unnecessary disagreement, but our experience suggests 'comfortable ride' or lack thereof, is more a function of tyre choice on these ultra low profile, fat tyres on these 20" BBS Detroits. . . and whether you are parading the promenade, or driving it like you stole it!

We have found the difference between P Zeroes (soft ride but high wear) and Michelins (harsher ride, better wear) was significant.

Cheers,

I have the Michalin Pilot Sport 4S on my 20" Detroit wheels, the rid isn't uncomfortable but it is a but bumpy on pot holes. But I think it would be in most cars. They are a lot better thenthe Dunlops the car came with, those where pretty terrible. I might have to look at the Pirelli P Zeroes next time I need to change tyres. The Dunlops where pretty dangerous on wet roads but the 4S's have loads of grip in the wet.

Kuddlesworth and cat_as_trophy,

Yeah, I agree with both of you. My ride is harsh but it's my fault. Here is why:-
I'm running on Dunlop Sport Maxx at 32psi front and 30psi rear. The whole car is Poly bushed and the roads here are awful.

So apologies, my statement 'not very comfortable' was wrongly biased.

One of the reasons why I won't use polybushes on my car. Our roads around Lincolnshire are also pretty terrible.
