Default XKR R Brake Option - Graunchy Feel

Is graunchy a word? Any way I just bought an '05 XKR with the R brake option and the brakes feel graunchy. The prior owner kept excellent records and took good care of the car completely replacing the fronts with OEM parts just 4k miles ago. So I don't think the brakes should feel graunchy. What could be the problem. Are the rotors warped and if so can they be turned?

If the brakes need to be replaced are there any reasonable OEM options?

Thanks for any advice.

Thats a common question on the boards. (XKR brake options)

I can tell you that dealer does not recommend turning the R rotors, they are always replaced with the pads.

graunchy doesn't describe it very well...try another approach

Maybe the pads need to be bedded in a bit more? Maybe they are glazed? Maybe they all sound like that?

Default Update

Just got the car back for the dealer after a complete inspection and having all the fluids changed. Anyway good news no need to secure a home equity loan as the dealer says the brakes are fine.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I bought an '05 XKR this time last year, and on the way back from the dealer my brakes felt rough. It almost felt as if the pads were gone and I was grinding the rivets into the rotors. However, luckily it was just that the car had sat for the winter and some rust developed on the rotors which came of after around 100 or so miles. It now drives fine and I have plenty of life left on rotors and pads.

good to hear xkrguy, but you might want to start an IRA account for those brakes when the time does come.
