Smile XKR tensioners (upper & lower) swapped + waterpump + termostat

Hi All,

I like to share info of my tensioners swap.

I now changed both the upper, lower and the chains on my XKR 2001,
with the new 4th generation tensioners kit, including all sealings etc, see pic below.

I strongly advise that You all do invest in this job, if You have not changed the old ones already, in my cases two of the old "slides" where complete cracked and broken, so it was just a matter of time before something serious happend.

I was also recommended by my UK dealer who provided the replacement kit to swap the waterpump and termostat at the same time, once we where at it. The old waterpumps impeller was in very bad condition, so same here,
I very glad I listen to the recommendation from my UK dealer.

I can strongly recommend Dave at "DCR AutoParts <enquiries@dcrautoparts.com>" who provided me with the kit and also an excellent step-by-step guide on how to do the job, it was much appreciated
by my local mechanic.

last, I want to express deepest thanks to All on this forum, without You expertise and advise I would never have realized how important it was to fix this. I am very pleased that my XKR is now ready for the large sport car event taken place in my hometown, Västervik Sweden in August.

some pic's below, more will follow, also on the lower tensioners swap.
I will upload once I get the time. Wish You all a nice weekend !

Hi Salo,

Looks like you had a busy day - Well Done!

One part I don't recognize from this job, there is a square box (open), with a hollow cylindrical part, just left of the water pump. What is that one?

Regards,

Jerry Lippmann

Would you mind telling us how many miles were in the car when you did all this work.
