Default XKR Won't Start

'02 XKR won't start. Reconditioned & charged the 1-year old battery, great power, turns over strong but won't fire. Potential problems/solutions?

Could be a fuel probjem. Check to see if you have fuel pressure at the schrader valve. Might be fuel filter or pump. Check the fuel pump fuses and relays.

If it has been sitting all winter the chance are good one or both of the fuel pumps have failed.

Try forcing a start with the secondary fuel pump by removing the 'Fuel Pump 1 Relay" in the diagram, then attempt to start at least 6 times in a row.

Relay is in the trunk fusebox, diagram attached.

Happened to me! Both pumps died.

Check the relays; and try to do the otehr pump trick per WhiteXKR. If the pumps are getting juice, check pressure at the rail.

If you do replace the pumps, ABSOLUTELY replace the wires. They're often the culprit. Just do both wires, both pumps and both socks if you're there. I used the cheapie airtex pumps and socks. Going on almost 6 years and they're great still. Have to go OEM for the wires and I recall it was like $150 for the pair, the pumps were about half that! Still do the wires.
