XM/Sirius radio
My wife has fallen in love with XM/Sirius radio (which I have in the Infiniti). She would love to have it in the Jag. We have another car she also uses. I am thinking about getting her the portable head unit so she could use in both vehicles.
Anyone install one into there Jag. Would like to keep at least steering wheel Vol control if possible. Do not want to delete the CD changer.

You will need to add an auxiliary input, either direct (best), through a cassette adapter (cheapest) or wired FM modulator. Do not waste your time with a wireless FM modulator...they do not work well. See the last few posts of this thread for some of the latest options: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ad-unit-88335/

I have a portable Sirius receiver installed in mine - I used a cassette adapter for the audio which still allows steering wheel controls until I recently purchased a JAG-CDR from discountcarstereo.com. Now I have an ipod to aux jack adapter connected to the JAG-CDR and the aux jack to the sirius receiver - still able to use steering wheel controls. CD player is still functional with the jag-cdr. My antenna for the sirius receiver is hidden (i have a convertible) so I installed it just underneath the rear passenger side upper window/side panel cover.

Mark - right now I use the lighter for power but am looking at adding an aux power jack in the back of the glove compartment for the receiver power so I can hide the cabling. Here are a few pics of antenna configuration - it is under the piece circled in red and next 2 show the antenna with that piece removed

Many thanks everyone. I believe I know what Santa is bringing this year. (She even mentioned on the road trip we are on that she wishes we had XM/Sirius in the Jag).
Now to figure out if we have std or prem sound. Yes I know, remove the right trunk cover. Hard to do without her noticing LOL. When I was in there servicing the pump, I do not recall seeing room for an amp. With the CD changer, nav unit and the top pump, is there still rom for an amp in the rack/tower?
Will take a look again at Gus's page as I remember he had more room above the pump than I did. Not sure if that was due to nav or amp.
Anyone with a vert have nav and prem sound?

Yes, the top of my pump is tucked very much towards the top of the fender.
Googled some pics and it appears there are only 2 tower heights, with nav and without. The amp is attached to the bottom of the top shelf (the one the pump sits on) regardless of which tower it appears.
Guess I need to come up with a reason to take that panel off so I can check something
Or is there another way to figure out std vs prem sound for a vert?

XM Roady installation
Here's how I did it: It's mounted on the dash with Velcro, allowing me instant removal and storage in the trunk when parked with the top down. Ran the antenna wire under carpet and rear seat and out to trunk lip where it's held by the magnetic head. Power to a multi-socket on the floor behind the driver's seat -- only visible to the rear-seat passengers ;>) All wires tucked in wherever available. Sound output through the cassette head.
Admittedly not the most aesthetically-pleasing installation but it has worked perfectly for ten years and gets the job done. Any old port in the storm when you gotta have music.

Sambo21 where is the multi-socket getting powered from? Did you run power from the trunk fuse box to the socket or is it coming from the lighter socket? I like the idea of a multi socket so my daughter can charge her phone while driving and we can still listen to sirius - just not sure where to install it.

Multi-socket
They draw their power from the lighter socket. Of course that precludes the small console door from closing but that's not a biggie for me.
One of the two sockets powers the XM Roady, the other is for my portable GPS which I only use for trips. I tuck the GPS cable alongside the seat when not being used.

I would like to minimize wires showing. I know some will as I will use an external mount so the XM/Sirius unit can be moved mount to mount between vehicles.
