zf 6 sp switch/sensor??
My 2005 xk8 tranny gave me several strange hiccups the other day, Gus recommended checking the fluid level (which I have not done as yet) but while crawling around I saw this sensor floating next to the wiring loom. What is it? where does it fit? (I cannot see any locating holes) and if it is a sensor could it a part or whole of my tranny warnings? (no cruise/gearbox failure/weird downshift)

Hi wj,
Managed to find it under its '2R83..' number, described as a "Radio Antenna Frequency RF Filter" (sic). >PBT-xxxx< yields a variety of air flow sensors.
So it's just a suppressor that's become detached from its location. I very much doubt it is causing a problem other than it looks to be within melting distance of the exhaust.
I can't see any reference to it in the 2003 wiring diagram, so I can't say what it is suppressing.
Mike
edit: it's probably this:
wire colours are brown/red & black. Labelled as 'transmission capacitor' in JTIS & across the power feed to the TCM.
