Once the new modified ring was installed I noticed a small bit of the ring on the column. Look closely at the ring to see I wrapped a few choking wraps of fine sliver coated wire around the grooved part of the ring, pulled the ends tight while spot soldering it to keep it tight. Then I put a small fillet of sealant on each side of the ring all the way around to firmly fix it in place. I chose this sealant because it is a natural cure silicone and doesn't use acetic acid to cure.
